Fool for Love
A demented love
story in the desert starring Sam Shepard and Kim
Basinger. Co-starring Harry Dean Stanton as the old
coot and Randy Quaid as the other man.
This was easily Basinger's finest acting performance.
(Still trying to figure out how she won an Oscar for
LA Confidential) Fine acting all around in this story
of troubled love.
Basically the idea is that Sam Shepard and Kim Basinger have had a lurid and torrid past, and Shepard is trying to win back Basinger after their latest tiff. There are some interesting
twists and turns in this movie that I won't give away here.
Based on a play by Sam Shepard originally performed in
the early 70's and directed by Robert Altman, this movie came out in 1985. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for well written movies that have less than 5 characters.
