eXistenZ
This is a David Cronenberg movie revolving around a
computer programmer's introduction of her new video
game.
Of course, Cronenberg is best known for his movies
such as Scanners, Videodrome, The Fly and Dead
Ringers. If you seen his movies and didn't like them,
don't even bother with this movie.
It stars Jennifer Jason Leigh as the genius computer
programmer, Allegra. Jude Law stars as a PR man for
her video game company. The plot revolves around
Allegra introducing her new virtual reality game
eXistenZ.
The game consists of players plugging into a machine
that looks both erotic and horrifying and playing out
characters in a virtual reality game.
At least that what the movie seems to be about. But
as you find out as the movie goes along, its not all
it seems to be.
What Cronenberg shows over the course of the movie is
not only how easy our perception of reality can be
altered but how easy it is to alter our reality
itself.
I know that sounds really confusing but that's the norm
for most all of Cronenberg's movies.
